Update 12/12

Hi Parents, Just a reminder that we have no homework this week.  Tomorrow is the finale of our gingerbread house STEAM project.  We're excited to finally build the houses we've been planning for the past 2 days.  Also, if your child wants to participate in the white elephant gift exchange, don't forget to send a gift in.  Any item from your house that you don't need is fine--the sillier the better!  Thanks again for all your support!

Update 12/11

Hi Parents! We will not be having any homework this week, since we know many of your are busy planning for travel, working on Christmas shopping, etc.  Also, thanks to our wonderful 4th grade families, we have nearly all the supplies we need for our Gingerbread STEAM project.  The only things lacking are a few bags of icing, gum drops, and jelly beans.  Parents are still welcome to come in on Wednesday morning if you'd like to help a group build their Gingerbread House. Please don't forget that Thursday is Polar Express Day at HES.  Students are invited to wear their PJs and may bring a small pillow or blanket to use while watching the movie.  We'll also be doing our white elephant gift exchange that day, as well as making a few crafts and eating all our leftover candy :-)  Thanks for all the support you've given us so far this year.  We're looking forward to the holiday, and then to starting off 2018 with all of you! Have a great evening!

Update 12/5

Hi Parents! Tonight's homework is simply for students to review the practice test we took in class today and to work on any problems that they missed or didn't understand.  We have a test on Thursday, which focuses on section 4.1-4.5.  Please use our Think Central resources to help your child prepare. Also, don't forget about our "white elephant" gift exchange on 12/14.  You absolutely do not need to buy anything; something silly or funny that you already own is perfect.  Wrap it up and send it in at any time! Have a great evening!

Update 11/4

Hi Parents, Tonight's homework is page 225.  Students are working on using compatible numbers to estimate quotients.  This is a challenging concept for some, particularly for students who don't know their basic multiplication and division facts.  Please take advantage of our Think Central resources for help. Also, please don't forget that we have a test on Thursday, focusing on lessons 4.1 - 4.5.  I've encouraged students to go back and view the corresponding lesson videos on Think Central and to use the Personal Math Trainer to complete some practice problems.  We'll pick up with lesson 4.6 after Christmas break. This week in reading, students are working on a mini-book report project, which allows them to practice all the literary text reading skills we've been working on this year.  Students are also continuing to work on the paragraphs that will comprise their reptile report.  The 3 content paragraphs are due by Friday.  We'll be working...
