Daily Update 8/31

Hi Parents! We've almost made it through week one!  Students are still working on getting a hang of the routines and procedures of 4th grade, but by and large, they're doing really well.  Our big challenge today was getting students logged into computers...I think we were mostly successful! Please don't forget that the "All About Me" posters are due tomorrow.  Creativity is highly encouraged, so let your imagination run wild :-) Have a wonderful evening!

Daily Update 8/30

Hi Parents! Normally on Wednesdays, we will not have a regular homework assignment.  Students are still expected to read for 20 minutes, but because of our abbreviated schedule, we do not have time for a full math lesson with new skills. Instead, on Wednesdays, we spend our math time on small group remediation, extra practice on critical skills, and math enrichment.  If you'd like for your child to spend some time working on math at home on Wednesdays, please check the "Extra Practice" link for grade-levels skills practice. Upcoming Events: 9/4 - Labor Day--no school 9/11 - Freedom Walk--parents may meet up with classes outside to participate 9/15 - Popcorn Friday 9/18 - T-Shirt Orders 9/18-9/22 - Book Fair 9/21 - Family Night Have a great evening!

Daily Update 8/29

Hi Parents! Happy Tuesday!  Normally, we'll be posting the daily homework here, but since we're still working on our beginning of year assessments, students will not have math homework this week.  Please do continue to work on the "All About Me" posters.  We have a few turned in already, and they look great! We continue to focus on rules and collaboration skills this week.  So far,so good!  It looks like it's going to be an awesome year!

Daily Update 8/28

Hi Parents, Welcome back to school, and welcome to 4th grade! This week is all about routines, routines, routines!  Students are learning all about how things run in the 4th grade classrooms so that we can have fun and productive learning experiences for rest of the year :-)  We will also be spending time this week on math assessments, which will allow us to get an individualized picture of the skills each child has mastered and the ones we still need to work hard to solidify. Please check your child's take home folder for any handouts and for this week's homework.  Since we won't be having math homework this week, students have been assigned an "All About Me" poster, which will be due on Friday of this week.  Students are encouraged to be as creative as possible, and may include writing, drawings, photos, pictures from magazines, internet, etc....feel free to go wherever your imagination takes you! Also, if you haven't sent back the paperwork you receiv...

Welcome!

Dear Parents, Students, and Families, Welcome to 4th grade and the 2017-2018 school year!  Fourth grade is a busy year, where students are expected to begin thinking more critically, working more independently, and taking more responsibility for their own learning.  As your child’s teacher, my goal is to provide a classroom environment where every child is able to meet his or her academic potential and all students have the opportunity for personal and social growth. I am very excited to be your child’s teacher this year and to be a part of his or her success. As both a teacher and a parent, I know that communication is the key to a great home-school partnership, and I encourage you to contact me at any time if you have questions or concerns. While my preferred method of communication is through email, you should also feel free to send either of me a note or leave a message in the school office.  I will get back to you as quickly as possible. Attached to th...
