Update 9/18
Hi Parents!
Happy Monday! Tonight's homework is the Chapter 1 Review/Test in the students' textbooks (pages 55-60). We completed the even numbered items during class today, and students were given a chance to correct their work and ask questions. Tonight, they should complete the odd numbered items, and we highly encourage parents (or older siblings, grandparents, etc.) to check over the work and help make sure students are ready for tomorrow's test.
This week in Reading, we're continuing to practice summarizing, and we will also be working on making inferences with supporting evidence. Our editing skill of the week is identifying and punctuating proper nouns.
In math, we will begin Chapter 5 this week, which focuses factors, multiples, and identifying number patterns. If you'd like your child to get some extra practice with these skills, I'll put a few links on the "Extra Practice" page on our blog.
Finally, Ms. Vermillion's class will be finishing up their introductory Social Studies project, focusing on describing and comparing the 5 regions of the United States, and Ms. Thompson's class will take a break from studying volcanoes and the rock cycle. For the next 3 weeks, Ms. Vermillion's class will switch to studying science (inquiry and volcanoes) and Ms. Thompson's class will begin working with Social Studies.
Please don't forget to visit our book fair. You can buy some great books and support our PTO. Parent's night is 9/21.
Have a great evening!
