Update 10/23

Hi Parents,

Tonight's math homework is page 117.  In it, students are practicing solving multi-step multiplication problems by drawing diagrams.  There are only 2 problems in the homework, but each requires several steps.  Please encourage your child to draw diagrams and show his/her work.

In whole-group reading this week, we're not starting a new mentor text.  Instead, we are taking a baseline reading comprehension test that we'll take again at the end of the year.  This will be a data point that will help us track your child's growth in reading comprehension skills this year.  In small-group reading, however, we will be working on identifying cause and effect relationships in a text.

Finally, please don't forget to help your child study the multiplication facts of the week.  Each Monday, you should be getting a letter introducing this week's facts and showing your child's current level of mastery with these facts.  Please go over these facts with your child each night.  There will be a quiz next Monday.

Upcoming Events:
24 Oct – Fall Picture Day
26 Oct – Original Works come back
27 Oct – CCRS Day--no school!

Have a great evening!
