Update 11/13
Hi Parents!
Tonight's homework is page 161 in the textbook. Students are using the area model to multiply 2-digit by 2-digit numbers. This week in math, we'll be learning several strategies to use when solving these types of problems. After we've learned the strategies, students will be encouraged to select the one that works for them.
In reading this week, we're talking about using context clues to find the meaning of unfamiliar words and are still practicing identifying and interpreting figurative language. Students are also learning all about how to correctly use quotation marks. Our mentor text this week is Stellaluna. In small group reading, we're practicing answering text-based questions by citing textual evidence and using text-based evidence to compose responses to reading.
In Social Studies, Ms. Vermillion's students are wrapping up their Native American projects. In Science, students are working on an "end of unit" assessment for Earth Science. This is an "open computer" assignment, so students are able to rewatch all the lesson videos in order to answer questions.
Please don't forget our study trip on Friday. Unless you've already ordered a lunch, students need to be sure to bring a sack lunch to eat while on the trip. We will spend some time outside, so also make sure your child dresses for the weather.
Have a great evening!
