Update 3/29

Hi Parents! Tonight's homework is page 611 in the textbook.  This was a pretty challenging lesson for some of our students, so please encourage them to use their Think Central resources if they need help.  Also, most students need to finish a Social Studies assignment for Ms. Spradlin.  This should be done independently, but students are encouraged to use the book. Don't forget to come out for PTO Bingo night!  The prize baskets look great!  Look forward to seeing all our families here at Heroes this evening!

3/27 Update

Hi Parents! The only homework students have tonight is to finish a Social Studies quiz sheet.  Many students finished today in class, but if they didn't, they should finish it tonight and turn it in tomorrow.  There is no math homework since today was a test day.  Please ask your child to show you his/her test score on Think Central and go over problems that were missed.  In our next chapter, we'll begin learning how to use a protractor and will be talking about how degrees and fractional parts of a circle are related.  Your child can always preview this content by using the Think Central videos! Have a great evening!

3/26 Update

Hi Parents! Tonight's homework is the even items on the Chapter 10 Review Test in our textbook.  This is in preparation for tomorrow's test.  Please encourage your child to use the textbook to look up any questions that are causing trouble.  Students may also want to use ThinkCentral to watch the lesson or Math on the Spot videos. Also, in case you missed it, please note that our 4th grade performance has been postponed until a later date.  You will be notified when the performance has been rescheduled. Have a great evening!

Update 3/19

Hi Parents, Today's homework is pages 553 and 559 in the textbook.  I know this sounds like a lot, but there are only a few questions on each page and they should go very quickly.  Geometry is very heavy on vocabulary, so encourage your child to look back into the chapter if he/she is confused. Please don't forget to return your money and your RSVP for family night Bingo!  We hope to see everyone there! This week in reading, we're working on cause/effect and answering text-dependent questions by citing evidence.  In writing, we're continuing with our focus on telling the difference between simple, complex, and compound sentences.  All students should have turned in their persuasive letter via google at this point, and we'll be beginning a new writing project in the coming weeks.  In Science, we have about one more week of investigating our creatures.  We're finishing up with Isopods on Wednesday and will move on to FISH!  By the middle of ...

Update 3/15

Hi Parents! There is no homework tonight, since our math block was taken up by quarterly assessments.  Tomorrow, we'll kick off our Geometry Unit.  Students have been having a great time handling mealworms and isopods.  The goal of our current science unit is to explore the behaviors, structures, and environmental factors that help living organisms survive.  Next week...fish! Please not the upcoming events: Upcoming Events: 16 Mar – Pre-K Staff Workday 21 Mar – Jump Rope for Heart 27 Mar – Spring Production  Parent Performance 2:00pm Have a great evening!

Update 3/13

Hi Parents! The only homework tonight is to read at least 20 minutes.  Students had a quiz on line plots today, so there is no math homework.  We will have a unit pretest tomorrow, a district assessment on Thursday, and will begin Chapter 10 on Friday.  If your child wants to get ahead, you can have him/her begin previewing the Chapter 10 videos. Please be on the lookout for an informational flyer from PTO that was sent home today.  We'd love to have all our families come out for Family Bingo Night! Have a great evening!

Update 3/21

Hi Parents! Tonight's homework is page 445.  We're working on problem-solving strategies, so please encourage your child to think about which strategy might be the best fit for each problem.  Please mark your calendar with the following upcoming events: Upcoming Events: 14 Mar – Chick-Fil-A (Dining to Donate) 21 Mar – Jump Rope for Heart 27 Mar – Spring Production Performance 2:00pm Don't forget that we do have a math test on Thursday.  This will focus on Chapter 7, sections 3-5 and 7-10.  Students may want to begin using Think Central to review the concepts in preparation. Have a great evening!

Update 3/5

Hi Parents, Tonight's homework is page 439.  Students should try and use the addition properties we learned about to add with mental math, but certainly may use paper and pencil if they need to.  Looking ahead, we will have a test on Chapter 7 on Thursday.  Encourage your child to start reviewing the content now. Students also have a Social Studies worksheet to complete for homework.  The sheet is two sided, but students need only to complete side that says page 29.  This is due tomorrow. Don't forget that Friday is a no-school day.  Teacher will be in math training that day, so students get to enjoy a day off :-)  Have a great evening!

Update 3/1

Hi Parents, Tonight's homework is page 733.  Students have until Monday to complete it, since tomorrow is a no-school day!  Progress reports went home today, so please ask your child to show the grades they've earned thus far this quarter.  Don't forget...we still have 4 more weeks to bring grades up, so encourage your child to keep working hard! It still isn't too late if you'd like to schedule a conference for tomorrow.  I have plenty of available time and would be happy to chat with you!  Just send me an email, and we can set up a time. Have a great evening!
